🛠️ What Fuels Our Foundation
I still remember one of the first times someone told me I didn’t belong in this industry, without even saying a word.
It was a hot summer day, and I was walking onto a job site I was managing. I wasn’t in boots or a hard hat. I was in a long dress and a kaftan, with my shades pushed up on my forehead, phone in one hand, architectural plans in the other. Yes, my toes were out in slippers, and yes, I was comfortable.
The subcontractor saw me, smiled politely, and walked straight into the house. He looked around, waiting for the contractor to arrive. After a few seconds, it hit him. We were the only two people on site.
With an awkward glance, he turned and asked, “Are you the contractor?”
I gave him a big smile and said, “Indeed I am.”
That moment has played out more times than I can count, and it still happens today.
But each time, I’m reminded why I started Xtreme Builder LLC in the first place. Not just to build beautiful spaces, but to break outdated assumptions about who belongs in this field and who leads it.
With over 21 years of experience in real estate contracting, investing, and representing both buyers and sellers through my sister company, Xtreme Homes Realty, I’ve built more than a business. I’ve built a movement rooted in integrity, generational wealth, and culturally competent service.
As a Caribbean-born Black and Hispanic woman, I’ve walked into rooms where I was the only one who looked like me. I’ve led multi-million dollar builds, taught investors how to renovate with confidence, and been an unspoken inspiration to others in the industry who needed to see what was possible.
What fuels our foundation isn’t just cement and studs. It’s vision, resilience, and the courage to keep showing up in an industry where my presence still surprises people, and still, I continue to lead with confidence, clarity, and proven results.....slippers and all.
